Ịwa Ji: COOU Community Felicitates with Igwe Omor

On Saturday, 23rd August 2025, the University community of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, fnipr, paid a courtesy visit to the Omor Kingdom to celebrate with the Traditional Ruler, His Royal Highness, Igwe Dr. Oranu Chris Chidume (MON), Eze Ana-Ukwu, Eze Igulube of Omor, on the occasion of his annual Ịwa Ji (New Yam) Festival.

It will be recalled that Igwe Dr. Oranu Chris Chidume, beyond being the revered monarch of Omor, is the Chief Executive Officer of Krisoral Group of Companies and a distinguished member of the Governing Council of COOU. Over the years, Igwe Chidume has remained a true friend of the University, offering unwavering support and philanthropy in recognition of the fact that education is a shared responsibility and not the burden of government alone. His contributions to the growth and development of the University have continued to earn him the admiration of the academic community.

Speaking during the visit, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Omenugha, described Igwe Chidume as a courageous leader and a father figure to his people. She noted that the University community was proud to identify with him on such a significant cultural occasion, describing his courage as second to none and his leadership as a blessing to the Omor people. She further remarked that Omor is fortunate to have a monarch who is not only loved by his people but also deeply committed to education and community development.

Accompanying the Vice Chancellor were the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration); Prof. Mathias Ananti, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics); Prof. Osita Chiaghanam, University Registrar; Sir Chris Obi, Ag. Bursar; Dr. Nath Udezo, Ag. University Librarian; Dr. Uche Enweani, Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies; Prof. Moses Chendo, Director, JUPEB; Prof. Anselm Nweke, Director, Collaboration and Linkages; Prof. Ngozi Joe-Ikechebelu, Deputy Director, General Studies; Prof. MaryJude Igbodika, Prof. Njideka Ebisi, Prof. Kingsley Nwozor, Prof. Sylvia Okonkwo, Sir Peter Nwosu, Mr. Collins Okelue, Engr. Ebuka Nwagwu, and Mrs. Chinwe Akpulue.

The COOU community once again congratulates His Royal Highness, Igwe Dr. Oranu Chris Chidume, Eze Ana-Ukwu, Eze Igulube of Omor, wishing him continued wisdom, strength, and prosperity as he leads his people.
