On Wednesday, the 15th May, 2024, Ag. Vice Chancellor Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, fnipr conducted a working visit to the Faculty of Health Sciences and Technology at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University of the Igbariam Campus.

During the visit, Prof. Omenugha meticulously inspected the campus facilities, including lecture halls, laboratories, and amenities.

Acknowledging the achievements of the faculty, which boasts of being the youngest in the university with only two departmentsā€”Medical Laboratory Science and Nursing Scienceā€”Prof. Mrs. Nkeriuka M. Orji, the Dean, narrated the successful initiatives like lecture series and resource verification. Despite the faculty also being the youngest faculty, the faculty has acquired two vehicles within two years, an evidence to its progress. Prof. Orji expressed gratitude for the visionary leadership of Prof. Omenugha, anticipating a successful accreditation in June.

Prof. Chinelo Ursula Umedum, Head of Medical Laboratory Science, and Dr. Ada Ibekwe, Head of Nursing Sciences, commended Prof. Omenugha as a nurturing leader tagging her as a loving mother who is determined to achieve greatness and success. They wishes for continued collaboration on future.

Prof. Omenugha, addressing the students as her own, emphasized the university’s commitment to excellence, promising international exposure to enhance competitiveness. Prof. Omenugha assured them that the faculty in the school is way beyond and better than other Universities she has been to and the management will not stop until the faculty starts to compete with global Universities.

Prof. Omenugha seized the opportunity to appreciate the parents whom she referred to as being fantastic as they displayed a lot of positivity during the nursing week. She assured them the students that their parents names would be echoed at the Senate of the University for adequate recognition. For her, she still insisted that “…there is no place in the world that education is left for the Government alone…”

Additionally, the Ag. Vice Chancellor extended her gratitude to the Ikedilo family in Oba for generously gifting a vehicle to the Department of Nursing, facilitating its activities. She also appreciated the Faculty for their purchase of a vehicle. She offered a prayer for the vehicles to fulfill their intended purposes and for blessings upon the donors.
