History was made at the Anambra State University recently when the Teaching Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) performed the maiden induction/oath taking ceremony of the graduating students of the institution’s Faculty of Education at the university Auditorium.
In his address on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Fidelis Okafor, observed that formal induction is a major landmark in the professional life of a teacher. The Vice Chancellor therefore charged the graduating students to take the Oath very seriously and let the laws, theories and principles of education guide them in the practice of the profession.
In his speech, the Registrar/Chief Executive, Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria, Professor Addison Mark Wokocha, urged the graduating students to take the oath with the highest level of commitment to professionalism. He disclosed that the council had established a Teachers Investigating Panel (TIP) in every State and the FCT, a well as Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal at the TRCN headquarters Abuja, to help raise professional ethical standards and productivity among teachers in the country.
