In a recap of the session at the Senate Chambers of the University in Igbariam Campus, the University’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Harrison Madubueze, informed that the exercise started on Tuesday 9th April 2024 where issues on “building a team spirit for the achievement of COOU vision” by Prof. Uche Amazigo; “academic administration: understanding the duties of the heads of departments” by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Prof. Osita Chiaghanam; “Understanding the Tenece Solutions” by a Team from the University’s ICT providers – Tenece; and “accountability, transparency, and budgeting: the roles of the heads of departments” by the Ag. Becoming a fully ethical university was top of the agenda on Friday 12th April 2024 with a paper titled “Integration of Ethics in Higher Education” by Prof. Casimir K.C. Ani from the University of Nigeria Nsukka who signed up the University as a global alliance of Ethical Universities across the world.

Prof. Ani, the Director of Strategic, Contacts, Ethics and Publications (STRACEP), UNN., Country Representative Globethics, Switzerland, and Member, of the Consortium of Ethical Universities, Geneva, clearly defined ethics as the way to go in every endeavor and therefore, COOU by joining in the campaign for ethical conducts has earned her pride of place as a force to reckon with and never again shall things become the same.

The high point of the exercise was the inauguration of the University Ethics Committee by the Acting Vice-Chancellor. The Committee will be Chaired by Dr Ndubuisi Emegha. Other participants were the Team 3Vs which include; the Deans, Directors, and the newly appointed Heads of the Departments.
