IGBARIAM: The Faculty of Social Sciences of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University yesterday, Thursday, 28th of November, 2024 honoured the retiring DVC and a one time HOD, Psychology Department, and Dean of the Faculty, Prof. S.N Madu.

The event which witnessed award of recognition, patting gifts, words of testimony and appreciation took place at the Boardroom of the New Faculty Building. The event was attended by Erudite Professors, Doctors, Academic Administrators from other universities like UNIZIK, Paul University, Madonna University and COOU Faculty Staff and Students Representatives. Other former Deans of the Faculty like Prof. OSA Obikeze, Prof. OBC Nwankwo, Prof A. A. Akamobi and the present Dean, Prof. A. O. Agu were also present. Prof. Chibuike Oguanobi unveiled Prof. S. N. Madu’s Festschrift. The book, NIGERIAN DEVELOPMENT: CHALLENGES AND SOCIAL BEHAVIORAL STRATEGIES was unveiled in honour of the Icon, Prof. Sylvester Ntomchukwu Madu.

 

Many PhD, Masters and Bachelor graduates of Prof. Madu who came from different places to witness the event describe him as a lecturer with high level of integrity, humility and meekness. Associate Prof. Val. Ucheagwu Psychology department, UNIZIK described Prof. Madu as the man that will always be remembered with his knowledge on “Dreams Content Analysis – Latent and Manifest Content of Dreams”.

In his response, Prof. Madu thanked the Dean of Faculty, the University and the Vice Chancellor, Prof.Kate Azuka Omenugha for making the recognition a reality. “From all indications, she wants to uplift the University to lofty height”.

Correspondent, the Current Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Anthony O. Agu noted that Prof. Madu’s immeasurable contributions to the development of the Faculty and the University in general is worthy of emulation and recognition hence the award of honour and the Festschrift.

The event also featured Dance by the awardee and other Deans of the Faculty. The guests were well entertained with sumptuous meal and assorted drinks. In fact, there was a general merriment to the coruscating audience.
