Dr. Ekesiobi, an Energy and Policy Economist, and an Associate Director of the COOU Research Management Office (RMO) was recently honoured with an Award during the 17th International Conference jointly organised by the Nigerian Association for Energy Economics (NAEE) and the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE), and held at NICON Luxury hotel, Abuja.
His presentation, delivered during a special session commemorating the 2024 World Energy Day, focused on the theme _’Empowering Africa’s Future: Youth-Driven Energy Efficiency & Industrial Partnerships’,_ highlighting the role of the youth in driving energy efficiency and achieving SDG 7 in Africa. Dr. Ekesiobi projected ongoing efforts of the current Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University management, led by Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha _fnipr_, in promoting sustainable energy practices.
He also shared practical case studies like the recent Climate Change Summit as part of COOU’s efforts to foster a culture of sustainability. Dr. Ekesiobi was later presented an appreciation award by the NAEE President, Dr. Hassan Mahmud, in recognition of his insightful contribution to the discussion. Dr. Ekesiobi subsequently dedicated the award to COOU in furtherance of the sustainability and visibility initiatives in the institution.
Slowly but surely, the 3Vs agenda of Values, Visibility and Viability will catapult the COOU into reckoning, both nationally and internationally, as the Now university and of the Future!
