On Thursday, 11th July, 2024, the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University National Alumni Association, led by National President Dr. Dubem Oguegbu (Gustavo Cubanna), paid a courtesy visit to the University Management, chaired by Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, the Chief Marketer of the University.
Speaking on behalf of the President, Vice President Engr. Cheta Nwefu informed the Acting Vice Chancellor that the Alumni Association had found an ideal partner in her. He emphasized that their visit was to express their commitment to making the institution proud by giving back to the university that played a crucial role in their success. According to him, the Alumni are the Eagles and Falcons, always ready to soar high and ensure Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University remains prominent, aligning with the Vice Chancellor’s vision.
Engr. Nwefu continued by explaining that the Eagles have returned because every eagle aspires to revisit its origin. He highlighted that the “One Day Value and Mindset Reorientation, Revitalization, and Empowerment Program” is just the beginning of their initiatives. Their goal is to educate students on the importance of joining the Alumni Association and equip them to overcome life’s challenges. He thanked the Vice Chancellor for her unwavering support and remarkable achievements in just seven months, expressing the Alumni’s pride in her. He concluded with a prayer for God’s strength for her and the University management, urging them to continue giving the association its deserved recognition in society.
The Ag. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, fnipr , expressed her joy, recounting the positive impact of the Alumni Association on the University, particularly their role in rebranding the institution, starting with the Administrative Block Reception. She acknowledged the Alumni Association’s alignment with her vision and appreciated their support. She emphasized the significance of rebranding, which she has been actively pursuing. She also noted that a university’s wealth is reflected in its Alumni, highlighting her efforts to engage with Alumni both locally and internationally to share her vision for the University.
Prof. Omenugha also announced the University’s progress in digitizing transcripts, addressing a major concern of the Alumni. She mentioned ongoing discussions with the Nigerian Printing and Minting Company to digitize student certificates. She asserted that the University is making its mark globally and that the Alumni can contribute to this effort. Prof. Omenugha expressed confidence that the upcoming program, featuring keynote speaker Mr. Linus Williams Ifejika and guest speaker Hon. Emmanuel Okoh (Okwulora ndị Ìgbo), would significantly impact the students, boosting their morale.
In his vote of thanks, the CEO of B-Lord Group, Mr. Linus Williams Ifejika, affirmed that the program would leave a lasting impact on the students, offering numerous benefits. He commended the Vice Chancellor’s humility, recalling her visit to his company. He also praised the President of the Association for his dedication to uniting the Alumni. He concluded by highlighting the importance of addressing the students and making a positive impact on their lives.
