MOU SIGNING: COOU PARTNERS WITH ORBITAL CREATIONS TECHNOLOGY TO TRANSFORM RESEARCH INTO INNOVATION

On Wednesday, 3rd September 2025, the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Anambra State, entered into a landmark partnership with Orbital Creations Technology Limited, represented by its Chairman/CEO, Engr. Emeka Okafor. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room, is a significant step towards strengthening institution-industry collaboration and bringing groundbreaking research to life.

The agreement covers wide-ranging areas including curriculum development in science, engineering, health and technology, environmental and sustainability studies, health sciences and pharmaceutical research, and technology transformation and innovation hubs.

On his part, Engr. Emeka Okafor, CEO of Orbital Creations Technology Limited, expressed his passion for transforming research into tangible products and solutions that solve everyday problems. For him, his vision is to bridge the gap between knowledge and application as research must not end in papers and conferences alone—it must be productive and live. He stated that this partnership with COOU excites him because it will empower both staff and students to innovate, create, and contribute to national and global development. He stressed that they are ready to support the University in ensuring that research outputs are translated into technologies, products, and services that impact lives.

Speaking, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, fnipr, described the MoU as another milestone in positioning COOU as the Now University and the University of the Future. She emphasized that the partnership resonates deeply with her administration’s 3Vs mantra: Values, Visibility, and Viability. She stressed that at COOU, the University is committed to nurturing values that drive academic and societal excellence, enhancing the visibility of the University through strategic global and industry collaborations, and ensuring viability by producing research that addresses real-world problems. She stated that the MoU with Orbital Creations Technology becomes a bold step in actualizing these commitments. For her, "It is about translating ideas into impact, research into solutions, and knowledge into innovation that serves humanity."

The MoU thus sets the stage for a mutually beneficial collaboration that strengthens COOU’s reputation as a forward-looking institution while creating new opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship, and societal impact.
