NEVER SEEN BEFORE: PROF. OMENUGHA TO FEATURE WITH STUDENTS IN UZUMA AS ENGLISH DEPARTMENT SETS TO RECEIVE THE VICE CHANCELLOR

The English Department is at it once again.

Today’s message is shared not as routine reportage or event coverage, but as a testimony from a believer in the English Department and a firm believer in the ideals and visions of the COOU Vice Chancellor.

As seen above and as earlier announced, the Department of English is set to warmly receive the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, on a Thank-You visit. Yet, this gathering goes far beyond a ceremonial welcome.

First, it coincides with a deeply personal milestone: the 61st birthday of Madam Vice Chancellor. More profoundly, the visit will be marked by a moving dramatic presentation that interrogates some of society’s most urgent concerns; education, gender-based coercion, and ethical leadership. The drama, directed by Dr. Ikechukwu Asika, promises not just performance, but reflection.

Titled “UZUMMA,” the play tells the story of a naturally gifted woman whose journey is shaped by intense cultural resistance and gender-based coercion. Yet, with her will undefiled, Uzumma rises above these constraints, triumphing over forces designed to limit her. Her story ultimately positions her as a beacon and role model for younger women who either aspire to follow similar paths or are already navigating them.

As Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha marks her 61st birthday on January 30, 2026, the symbolism could not be more striking. Sixty-one years of resilience. Sixty-one years of refusing to be bent or restrained by cultural prescriptions and gender limitations. Sixty-one years of consistently affirming that the 21st century must leave no room for discrimination of any kind because the sky, indeed, is vast enough for everyone, women included.

The University community eagerly anticipates this powerful work of art, one that promises to inspire, challenge, and educate. Until the curtains rise, anticipation remains high.

Happy 61st birthday in advance to the Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha.
