COOU PARTNERS CHUNO NIGERIA LIMITED TO DEVELOP STUDENTS’ HOSTELS IN LANDMARK MOU

The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University has taken another significant step toward improving student welfare with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chuno Nigeria Limited, Apapa, Lagos State, for the development of students’ hostels. The MoU was signed on Wednesday, 8th January, 2026, marking a strategic partnership aimed at expanding and upgrading on-campus accommodation to meet the growing needs of the University community.

The agreement aligns with the Vice-Chancellor’s consistent call for the deployment of social capital in building and strengthening the University. Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha has repeatedly emphasized the importance of partnerships that leverage expertise, trust, and shared responsibility to accelerate institutional development. The hostel development project is therefore envisioned not just as an infrastructure initiative, but as a collaborative effort that reflects the University’s commitment to sustainable growth and student-centered development.

Speaking during the engagement, representatives of Chuno Nigeria Limited described the partnership as joining the University “as a family”—not just an ordinary family, but a technical one. They noted that the decision to invest in Anambra State was deeply personal, describing the state as their home space, and reaffirmed their commitment to delivering a project that meets high technical and professional standards. The partnership is expected to enhance students’ living conditions while strengthening town-and-gown collaboration in the state.
