COOU COMMITS CONVOCATION WEEK INTO GOD’S HANDS THROUGH SOLEMN INTER-DENOMINATIONAL SERVICE

Thursday, 23rd April 2026, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University convened an Inter-denominational Service at the ETF Auditorium, setting aside the remainder of the Convocation week in reverence to God Almighty, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

The spiritually uplifting service was officiated by five (5) clergymen, with Rev. Venerable Onuorah serving as the anchor and chief celebrant of the gathering.

Delivering the homily, Ven. Onuorah affirmed that the University is on a commendable path by prioritizing such a moment of spiritual reflection. Quoting the scripture, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain,” he stressed that any institution devoid of God’s presence risks losing direction.

According to him, a life or system driven without divine guidance may appear clever but ultimately lacks true wisdom.

He further emphasized that God remains the very source of wisdom, and anyone endowed with it carries a divine gift, one that must be applied purposefully. He reminded the congregation that the essence of acquiring knowledge is not merely for personal advancement, but for the transformation and betterment of society.

In his words, education must translate into positive impact; otherwise, it loses its true value. He therefore encouraged all to let their knowledge shine in ways that bring glory to God and benefit humanity.

Drawing his message to a reflective close, he described education as a journey of growth, one that demands constant nurturing and discipline. He challenged the audience with a critical question: are we truly sustaining the standard of growth we claim to pursue?

The sermon stood as a profound call to reflection, urging all present to internalize its message and live it out daily.
