MANAGEMENT ENGAGES WITH NAAT-UNION, COOU BRANCH

On June 10, 2025, the Management of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) held a strategic engagement with the Executives of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), COOU Branch. The meeting, which took place at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room, was aimed at fostering mutual understanding and creating a platform for the Union to articulate the purpose of their courtesy visit.
In his remarks, the NAAT Chairman, Engr. Eziuzo Ikechukwu, expressed deep appreciation to the University Management for what he described as being “the most accessible administration we’ve had in recent times.” He emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in achieving results, stating, “All my accomplishments as Chairman have been through diplomacy. It is this belief in engagement that inspired our courtesy call, trusting in the openness of this administration.”
While expressing gratitude, Engr. Ikechukwu passionately appealed to the University’s leadership to consider some pressing challenges facing the Union. These include unresolved arrears, transportation difficulties, and the need for improved medical insurance coverage for Union members. According to him, these issues have driven some members to seek conversion to other roles or relocate from their usual places of residence, all in a bid to find stability.
In response, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, lauded the Union for their approach and commitment to progress. She encouraged them to embrace patience and diplomacy, assuring them that the raised concerns would be addressed gradually.
As a symbolic gesture, the Union presented a copy of their Journal to the University Management in anticipation of their forthcoming conference—a token of collaboration and intellectual exchange.
