The Ag. Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, fnipr, along with University management, female professors, and students, attended the flag-off ceremony for the introduction of the Human Papilloma Virus Vaccine into routine immunization. The event took place at Michael Tansi Secondary School in Aguleri, Anambra East, on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, and was flagged off by Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo (Mama Anambra).

In her goodwill message, Prof. Omenugha called upon what she termed “her squad,” which included the University’s management team, female professors, and students, to express their appreciation to Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo, the convener of Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo and the wife of the Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo.

Prof. Omenugha emphasized the importance of leadership that has a tangible impact. She stressed on how the university has embraced the Healthy Living initiative inspired by Dr. Nonye Soludo’s life experiences, exemplified by the establishment of a “Healthy Living Farm” in her honor. The Ag. Vice Chancellor expressed hope that Dr. Nonye Soludo would visit the university to see these initiatives in action.

Prof. Omenugha thanked Dr. Nonye Soludo for her contributions to the University, particularly for inspiring many and supporting the Nursing Department. She noted that during the recent Nursing Week, the Commissioner for Health, representing Dr. Nonye, spoke to the students about healthy living, which has been instrumental as the department prepares for accreditation.

In closing, Prof. Omenugha expressed the University’s prayers for continued blessings on Dr. Nonye acknowledging her ongoing inspiration and impact on the lives of many.
