On Wednesday, 11th June, 2025, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha FNIPR, the Ag. Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, warmly welcomed a delegation of the JUPEB Unit of the University to the her conference room.

During the meeting, the Director of JUPEB, Prof. Anselm Nweke, provided insight into the program’s objectives, highlighting its significance and background. For him, “JUPEB aims to make academic excellence accessible, providing quality education and enabling students who couldn’t meet JAMB requirements to access the University”.
However, Prof. Omenugha further engaged in a fruitful discussion with them, inquiring about their involvement in JUPEB. They explained that their participation to teach in JUPEB was voluntary, and the Ag. Vice Chancellor commended their efforts, acknowledging the challenges of working with humans. She stressed the importance of taking their work seriously, emphasizing that their dedication would yield long-term benefits.

The Ag. Vice Chancellor also emphasized the need for social engagement to promote JUPEB, highlighting its potential to enable students who didn’t meet JAMB cutoff marks to pursue their desired courses. She advocated for “aggressive marketing” to attract more students to the university, underscoring the program’s value. Noting the declining ratings, the VC urged the staff to redouble their efforts and ensure effective time management. She suggested adopting makeup classes to maximize teaching time and encouraged the monitoring committee to be more diligent in their work. She also promised to address concerns raised by the staff, especially student attendance.
In conclusion, the VC expressed her appreciation for the staff’s hard work and encouraged them to strive for excellence, putting COOU on the world map.
