COOU’S RESEARCH MANAGEMENT OFFICE CONTINUES TO PUSH FOR EXCELLENCE

VALUES, VIABILITY, AND VISIBILITY [3Vs]

By Chukwunnoso Ekesiobi

The Research Management Office (RMO) at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Anambra State. made a strategic decision by inviting Professor Yakubu Ochefu, the esteemed guest lecturer from the recent silver jubilee convocation of the institution, to break down his impactful lecture into practical steps. As part of the RMO team as the Associate Director, I was glad to see the part of the intention of its creation last year come to fruition.

This Step Down & Unbundling session of the lecture titled “Advancing Collaborations and Partnerships for Global Impact: Harnessing the Quadruple Helix Framework” was a masterstroke, as it helped the research community in the university to truly grasp the concepts and strategies outlined earlier.

While taking the convocation lecture further, Prof. Ochefu provided useful insights and actionable advice on how to harness the Quadruple Helix Framework for the benefit of the university. This framework, which involves the intentional collaboration of COOU with the academia, industry, government, and civil society, is expected to drive innovation in COOU for global impact.

The session was frank but informative, and participants left with a deeper understanding of how to apply the framework in their research and collaborations for their personal and societial benefits. Key takeaways included the importance of building strong partnerships, leveraging resources, and creating mutually beneficial relationships.

The university community is sincerely grateful to Prof. Ochefu for the humility in sharing his expertise and experience with us once again, under short notice. I also appreciate the tireless efforts of the RMO COOU team, led by our Director, Prof. Ifemeje Chinenye, in making this event a success. The support of the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, FNIPR, and members of the university management was instrumental in facilitating this initiative. I am optimistic about the potential for Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University to become a hub for innovation and global impact, driven by the power of collaboration and partnership.
