On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, the University Community witnessed a significant transition of leadership, as Prof. Greg Nwakoby passed the baton of leadership to Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha.
Commencing with a reverent Interdenominational service, the former Vice Chancellor, Prof. Greg Nwakoby, expressed gratitude to the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo for appointing Prof. Kate Omenugha as the Acting Vice-Chancellor. He maintained optimism that Prof. Omenugha will succeed, emphasizing the transformative role of leadership in converting raw potential into tangible success.
Prof. Kate Omenugha, in her address, rallied the University Community for collective achievements, urging everyone to embrace a shared value system. She extended heartfelt appreciation to the Governor for envisioning the future of University education in the People’s Manifesto of Mr. Governor.
Highlighting the University’s upward trajectory, Prof. Kate Omenugha declared that Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University is on a dynamic journey. Drawing inspiration from Prof. Greg Nwakoby’s towering contributions, she envisioned the sky as the new starting point for the University.
Assuring the University Community of inclusive leadership, Prof. Kate Omenugha encouraged the sharing of ideas to propel the institution forward. Emphasizing the transformative power of ideas, she asserted that, together, the University could broaden its horizons, think academically, and foster a collective vision.
Following the Handover ceremony, Prof. Greg Nwakoby, the Former Vice Chancellor, led Prof. Kate Omenugha, the Acting Vice Chancellor, on a facility tour around the Igbariam Campus of the University, showcasing its various facilities and areas of significance.
The high point of the ceremony was the Students who came in their numbers to welcome the Acting Vice Chancellor.
