COOU COMBINED CONVOCATION

COMBINED CONVOCATION CEREMONIES (10TH-15TH) AND SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATION

1.0 INFORMATION TO GRADUANDS

This is to inform the 2019/2020, 2020/2021, 2021/2022, 2022/2023, and 2023/2024 Graduands of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Anambra State, Parents/Guardians, Alumni, Friends, Stakeholders of the University, and the Publics that activities marking the 10th – 15th Combined Convocation ceremonies of the University for the award of First Degrees, Higher Degrees as well as Award of Honorary Degrees (Honoris Causa) and other Honours will take place from Tuesday 20th – Saturday 24th May, 2025. The University would also be celebrating her Silver Jubilee (25th Anniversary) within the week.

2.0 PRE-CONVOCATION/SILVER JUBILEE ACTIVITES

1. Friday, 16th May, 2025

(a) Vice-Chancellor’s Press Conference and Media Engagement

Time: 9.30a.m.

Venue: Vice Chancellor’s Conference room

(b) Facility Tour

Time: 12:00 noon

2. Saturday, 17th May, 2025

(a) Silver Jubilee Road Walk/Show

Time: 7.00a.m.

Venue: University Community is to assemble at COOUTH field Awka Campus.

3.0 SILVER JUBILEE ACTIVITIES

1. Tuesday, 20th May, 2025

(a) Homecoming/ Back to our root event

Event 1: Interdenominational Church Service

• Venue: ETF Auditorium, Uli Campus

Time: 11:00 am

2. Wednesday, May 21, 2025

Event 1: Founders and Heritage Day

– Awards.

– Public Presentation and Launching of COOU Anniversary Book

Venue: TETFund Auditorium, Igbariam Campus

Event 2: Alumni Dinner – Networking, Luncheon, Awards

Time: 7:00 pm

4.0 CONVOCATION ACTIVITIES

1. Thursday, May 22, 2025

Event: Documentary on COOU @25

– Convocation Lecture

Time: 11am

Venue: ETF Auditorium, Igbariam campus

2. Friday, May 23, 2025

Event: Convocation Ceremony for 1st degrees

Venue: Convocation Arena, Igbariam Campus

Time: 11am

3. Saturday, May 24, 2025

Event: Convocation Ceremony for Higher degrees

– Postgraduate Diplomas (PGD)

– Masters of Science Degrees (M.Sc)

– Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D)

– Honorary Doctorates (Honouris Causa) Awards

Venue: Convocation Arena, Igbariam Campus

Time: 11am

5.0 CONVOCATION FEES

i. First Degree: N25,000

ii. Masters of Science Degree (M.Sc) and Postgraduate Diploma (PGD): N70,000

iii. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) – Purchase of academic gown (including all the above items as listed in (7.0 Number 2. below): N120,000

6.0 MODE OF PAYMENT

All payments to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University should be made through the following:

1. Visit https://portal.coou.edu.ng;

2. Click on the Sundry button;

3. Select payment from drop down menu;

4. Generate payment Invoice under Sundry and pay online or at any bank of your choice;

5. Print your Remita payment receipt and present for collection of Convocation Materials.

7.0 GENERAL NOTICE TO ALL GRADUANDS

Graduands are please requested to note the following:

1. First Degree Graduands are to ensure that they pay the stipulated convocation fee during their clearance.

2. It is mandatory for all Higher Degree Graduands to pay for the following items irrespective of attendance to the Convocation Ceremonies:

(a) Order of Proceedings/Convocation Brochure

(b) Academic Outfits

(c) Certificate Scrolls

(d) COOU T-shirt or Hoodie Jacket

(e) COOU Cap

(f) COOU Tie or Scarf

(g) COOU Lapel pin

8.0 GENERAL INFORMATION

1. Participation in the academic procession and wearing the approved academic regalia is mandatory for all Graduands.

2. All Graduands must be dressed in formal attire – suit, shirt, and tie for men; suit, skirt and blouse, or gown for ladies or in full national dress.

3. Undergraduate Graduands will collect their academic regalia from their respective Faculties and Departments.

4. Distribution of convocation materials begins on Friday May 2, 2025.

5. Postgraduate Graduands will obtain their academic gowns and materials from the School of Postgraduate Studies, Igbariam Campus

6. Graduands must provide proof of payment before receiving their convocation materials.

7. Graduands are required to gather in front of the Administrative Building at Igbariam Campus for the procession each day.

8. All rented academic gowns must be returned to their designated collection points by Friday, May 30, 2025. Late returns will incur a penalty of N50,000.00

9. Payment starts from Tuesday 15th April, 2025.

SECURITY TIPS:

1. Bags and luggage are strictly disallowed inside the Convocation Arena.

2. Parking is only permitted at designated areas or as may be directed on arrival

3. Security personnel will guide all vehicles to the designated parking areas.

4. Hawking of any kind is not allowed near the Convocation Arena.
