COOU AG. VICE CHANCELLOR HOSTS ROTARY CLUB OF AWKA

~ promises to support and strengthen COOU Igbariam Rotary Gateway

On Thursday, April 4th, 2024, a delegation of seventeen members from the Rotary Club of Awka, led by the President, Rtn. Chika Ibeneme, paid a sensitization visit to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), where they were warmly received by the Ag. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, fnipr.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Rtn. Prof. A. U. Nnonyelum, the District Governor-Elect of Rotary International District 9142 Nigeria, expressed gratitude to Prof. Omenugha for the warm welcome and highlighted the club’s commitment to service and problem-solving. He praised Prof. Omenugha’s excellence in leadership and the university’s support for Rotary initiatives, noting the elevation of two of her members to the ranks of “professor” is an evidence of her firm belief in transparency in leadership.

The visit aimed to revitalize the Igbariam Rotary Gateway Club at the university and strengthen collaboration with Prof. Omenugha’s administration. The District Governor Elect also extended thanks to the Governor of the state, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, for his choice of Prof. Omenugha as Acting Vice Chancellor, expressing confidence in her ability to drive positive change.

In response, Prof. Omenugha expressed her admiration for Rotary’s work and her willingness to enhance collaboration. She emphasized the university’s core values of Values, Viability, and Visibility, noting Rotary’s potentials to positively contribute in driving the University’s vision. Prof. Omenugha pledged to support the club’s initiatives and sought partnership opportunities to harness the university’s potential for the benefit of the community.

Rtn. Prof. Njideka Ebisi, President-Elect of Igbariam Gateway, commended Prof. Omenugha’s proactive approach and expressed optimism for future collaboration, describing her as a “bulldozer” ready to drive positive change at COOU.
