~ Presents Awards to Management

On Wednesday, 21st August, 2024, a delegation from the Faculty of Health Sciences and Technology, led by Dean Prof. Nkeiruka Orji, visited the Ag. Vice Chancellor and the university management. The delegation, which included faculty staff and students, was welcomed by the Acting Vice Chancellor and the management team.
During the visit, Dean Prof. Orji expressed gratitude for the Vice Chancellor’s ongoing support to the faculty and highlighted the significant impact of her presence within the Faculty. The Dean took the opportunity to recognize recent achievements within the Department of Medical Laboratory Science.
Notable accomplishments included Ikezu Anthony, a Medical Laboratory Science Student who secured 2nd place in the Commonwealth Nigeria National Youth Quiz and Debating Championship, receiving an Accomplishment Award of Excellence. Additionally, Comr. Arinze Ifechukwu Kelvin was honored as the Chapter President of the Year, and Ibeh Chidiebere received the Presidential Award from the Nigerian Medical Laboratory Science Students Association, Southeast Region. Ibeh Chidiebere was also named “Student Political Icon of the Year,” while Amachukwu Valentine was recognized as the “Most Influential Male” during the Southeast Region Conference. The Department of Medical Laboratory Science under the leadership of Prof. Umedum, despite being relatively new, also triumphed by winning first place in the Nigeria Medical Laboratory Science Students Association Southeast Quiz Competition.
In recognition of the Ag. Vice Chancellor’s outstanding contributions, the Faculty presented her with an “Award of Honour” for her remarkable reforms, policies, and commitment to student affairs.
In her response, the Acting Vice Chancellor praised the Faculty for their achievements and encouraged them to continue aligning with the university’s core V’s: Values, Viability, and Visibility. She commended the faculty members for their dedication, emphasizing that their efforts are crucial for the students’ success. Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, fnipr also assured the Faculty and students of her ongoing support to facilitate their participation in future competitions.
