On Friday, 21st June, the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) Institute for Gender Studies delegation presented a detailed report to the Ag. Vice Chancellor, Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha, regarding their recent research trip to Abuja. The delegation discussed their experiences and outlined future plans, emphasizing the necessity of a strategic plan and a comprehensive sexual harassment policy. They noted that many staff and students are unaware that indecent dressing can constitute sexual harassment, leading to provocation, and stressed the need for orientation programs to address this issue.

Professor Omenugha commended the delegation for their dedication and successful endeavors. She assured them of her support in achieving better results aligned with the University’s core principles of Values, Viability, and Visibility.

Professor Omenugha emphasized the crucial role of the Institute for Gender Studies in promoting gender equity and fostering a safe, respectful campus environment. She emphasized that the institute’s work is vital in raising awareness, shaping policies, and driving cultural change within the university and beyond. She also encouraged the team to continue leveraging their experiences to enhance the university’s reputation and impact.
