Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University has recorded another important step in its drive to become a fully technology-driven institution with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the University Management and APPLEAD Nig. Ltd. The partnership marks a major milestone in the ongoing efforts to reposition the University for digital excellence and improved service delivery.
The MoU outlines a wide scope of collaboration through which APPLEAD will work closely with COOU to develop, deploy, and maintain the Student Life Cycle Portal (SLCP). This portal, which will run both as an online platform and a mobile application, is designed to manage student records, data, and all lifecycle-related activities in a seamless and user-friendly manner. The introduction of the SLCP is one of the University’s strategic moves towards building a strong digital environment that supports innovation and efficiency.
While welcoming the APPLEAD delegation, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha fnipr, emphasised that COOU is fully committed to moving from analogue operations to a modern, digital university system. She explained that the SLCP is only one of the many innovations already introduced as part of this transition. The Vice-Chancellor made it clear that expectations from the partnership are very high and that the University cannot afford any form of failure. She also stressed that COOU must align with the vision of the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR, which focuses on building a digitally skilled generation. According to her, COOU students must become active members of the emerging Anambra Digital Tribe.
In response, the Representative of APPLEAD Nig. Ltd, Professor Ikechukwuka Onyenwe, assured the University Management that the company has a strong track record of delivering excellent ICT services in several institutions across the country. He expressed enthusiasm about partnering with COOU and reaffirmed his team’s commitment to providing the very best technology support to meet the University’s needs.
The Director of ICT at COOU, Engineer Professor John Paul Iloh, commended the Vice-Chancellor for taking such a bold and forward-looking step in transforming the University’s technological landscape. He promised to harness all opportunities from the partnership to enhance ICT operations for the benefit of the entire University community.
The ceremony was attended by members of the University Management, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration and Environmental Sustainability), Professor Anselem Nweke; the Acting University Bursar, Dr Nath Udezuo. Others present include, the Director of Academic Planning, Professor Nneka Nnorom; the Deputy Legal Officer, Dr Maryqueen Ucheagwu-Okoye; the University Public Relations Officer, Dr Harrison Madubueze; and the Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor on Strategy and Policy Implementation, Dr Chukwunonso Ekesiobi.
The event ended on a positive note, with all parties expressing confidence that the partnership will significantly strengthen COOU’s move towards becoming a fully digital and globally competitive university.
