FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCE INAUGURATES NEWLY ELECTED FOSSSA OFFICIALS FOR 2026/2027 ACADEMIC SESSION, CHARGES THEM TO BE DILIGENT

The Faculty of Social Science, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, formally inaugurated the newly elected officials of the Faculty of Social Science Students’ Association (FOSSSA) for the 2026/2027 academic session at the Dean’s Conference Room.

The inauguration marked the official commencement of the administration of the newly elected FOSSSA leadership, comprising the two principal arms of the Association, The FOSSSA Executive and The FOSSSA Senate, following their emergence from the recently conducted FOSSSA Students’ Election.

Leaving his remark during the inauguration, The Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Agụ Anthony, charged the newly inaugurated officials to embrace diligence, dedication and commitment to service. He urged them to approach their respective offices with a strong sense of responsibility and to always place the welfare and interests of the students above personal considerations.

Prof. Agụ further reminded the student leaders that their positions were entrusted to them as a mandate to serve, rather than privileges to be exploited, highlighting the importance of hard work and purposeful leadership throughout their tenure.

At the helm of the FOSSSA Executive is Sen. Ezeji Jeff of the Department of Psychology, who brings considerable administrative experience to the office. Prior to his emergence as President, he served as a two-time Senator of the FOSSSA Senate and also chaired the FOSSSA Senate Legislative Summit on two occasions. His election makes him the 10th Executive President of the Faculty of Social Science Students’ Association.

On the legislative arm of the Association, Sen. Nwuzor Abraham of the Department of Economics emerged as the new 9th Senate President of FOSSSA. His leadership experience spans years, having previously served as Sergeant-at-Arms during the 7th Assembly and subsequently as a Senator in the 8th Assembly. His elevation to the Senate Presidency therefore comes with a wealth of knowledge and legislative experience.

Beyond the inauguration of the new leadership, it is worth noting that FOSSSA has, over the years, distinguished itself as one of the leading and most vibrant student associations in the University. Successive administrations have contributed significantly to the growth and development of the Association through the establishment of impactful projects and initiatives, including the FOSSSA Commercial Shuttle, Sit-Out, FOSSSA Hub, FOSSSA Toilet, FOSSSA Secretariat, FOSSSA Senate Chamber, FOSSSA Legislative Summit and FOSSSA Intervention Scheme.

These achievements have not only strengthened the structure of the Association but have also created a formidable legacy for succeeding administrations to sustain and improve upon.

Therefore, there are considerable expectations that Sen. Ezeji Jeff and Sen. Nwuzor Abraham will build upon the achievements of their predecessors while bringing their wealth of experience, knowledge and leadership capacity to bear in steering FOSSSA towards greater heights.

Congratulations once again to the newly inaugurated FOSSSA officials.

Lead well. Serve diligently. Leave a legacy.
