POLITICAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO VC, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO COOU’S 3Vs AGENDA

On Thursday, 17th September, 2026, the Department of Political Science, led by the Head of Department, Prof. Agary Nwokoye, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, FNIPR, in a show of solidarity and appreciation for the administration’s transformative vision for the University.

During the visit, the Head of Department, Prof. Nwokoye, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for her support and commitment to the development of the Department of Political Science, particularly towards the proposed Department of International Relations. He noted that the administration’s 3Vs mantra of Values, Viability and Visibility has become deeply rooted within the department, adding that the department remains committed to contributing meaningfully to the advancement and visibility of the University.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, appreciated the department for the courtesy visit and commended its members for identifying with and supporting the administration’s vision for the University. Prof. Omenugha charged the Department of Political Science to embrace deep thinking, innovation and strategic partnerships, stressing the importance of synergy between University Management and academic departments in driving sustainable institutional development.

She encouraged the department actively pursue research grants and meaningful partnerships, noting that such engagements would strengthen academic development while expanding the University’s impact and visibility beyond its immediate environment.

As part of its contribution to the University’s vision and environmental sustainability efforts, the Department of Political Science presented a brush cutter to support the maintenance of a cleaner and greener campus environment.

Receiving the equipment, Prof. Omenugha appreciated the gesture and described it as a thoughtful demonstration of solidarity, shared responsibility and institutional ownership. She reaffirmed that the transformation of the University is a collective responsibility, calling on members of the University community to take ownership of the institution’s vision and contribute their quota towards its actualisation.

The Vice-Chancellor further encouraged the department to sustain the spirit of collaboration, innovation and service, emphasising that every contribution, regardless of its size, can support the collective effort to build a stronger and more sustainable University.
