COOU CONDUCTS PROMOTIONAL ICT EXAMINATION FOR NON-ACADEMIC STAFF, DEEPENS DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION DRIVE

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), on Friday, July 24, 2026, successfully conducted its Promotional Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Examination for non-academic staff as part of the criteria for the 2026 staff appraisal and promotion exercise. The examination, held at the University’s E-Library, marked another significant milestone in the institution’s ongoing transition from analogue operations to a digitally driven administrative system.

The examination was coordinated by the Director of ICT, Prof. J. P. Iloh, and his dedicated team, who ensured that the exercise was conducted in a seamless, orderly and transparent manner. Staff members participated in the exercise under a conducive atmosphere, with the technical team providing the necessary support to guarantee a hitch-free examination process.

In a demonstration of her commitment to institutional reforms and staff development, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, FNIPR, visited the E-Library to monitor the exercise. Interacting with staff during the examination, the Vice-Chancellor commended their willingness to embrace digital skills, describing ICT competence as an indispensable requirement for a modern university workforce. She reiterated that the University’s vision is to build a workforce that is adequately equipped to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven global environment.

The successful conduct of the examination further reflects the University’s determination to institutionalize digital literacy as a core component of staff development and career progression. The initiative aligns with the Vice-Chancellor’s vision of repositioning COOU as “the Now University and of the Future,” where technology serves as a catalyst for improved efficiency, productivity and service delivery.

Participants expressed satisfaction with the smooth organization of the exercise and lauded the University’s leadership for introducing an initiative that prepares staff for the realities of the digital age. Many described the ICT examination as a progressive step that not only enhances professional competence but also reinforces the University’s commitment to innovation, excellence and its 3Vs mantra of Values, Viability and Visibility, as COOU continues its journey from analogue to digital.
