Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Anambra State, is set to make yet another remarkable academic statement as it hosts its 33rd Inaugural Lecture on Thursday, July 23, 2026, featuring Nigeria’s first Reverend Sister Professor of Law, Prof. Anne Amuche Obiora, as the inaugural lecturer.

The lecture, titled “Constitution and Customary Arbitration in Nigeria: Peace, A Point of Convergence,” promises to offer scholarly insights into the intersection of constitutional law and customary dispute resolution in Nigeria. As the nation’s first Reverend Sister to attain the rank of Professor of Law, Prof. Obiora has distinguished herself through years of outstanding scholarship, research, and commitment to legal education, making her selection for the University’s 33rd Inaugural Lecture both historic and symbolic.

The inaugural lecture forms part of COOU’s enduring tradition of promoting academic excellence, intellectual discourse, and impactful research. Under the leadership of Prof. Kate Omenugha, the University has continued to strengthen its academic visibility by providing platforms for scholars to showcase groundbreaking research that contributes to national development and global knowledge.

Beyond celebrating an exceptional academic milestone, the event further reflects the University’s steadfast commitment to its 3Vs mantra of Values, Viability, and Visibility which has continued to reposition COOU as one of Nigeria’s fast-rising institutions of higher learning. The inaugural lecture series remains one of the University’s flagship academic engagements, bringing together scholars, legal practitioners, policymakers, students, and members of the public for robust intellectual exchange.

As anticipation continues to build, members of the University community and the general public have been invited to witness what promises to be another landmark academic event in the history of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University. The 33rd Inaugural Lecture is expected not only to celebrate the remarkable achievements of Prof. Anne Amuche Obiora but also to reinforce COOU’s growing reputation as the Now University and the University of the Future, where excellence, innovation, and scholarship continue to thrive.
