The Department of Music, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, , to express appreciation for her unwavering support and commitment to the growth of the Department. Leading the delegation, the Head of Department, Rev. Fr. Dr. Jude Orakwe, said the visit was informed by the belief that "ingratitude is a cardinal sin," noting that the Department has recorded remarkable progress under the Vice-Chancellor's administration.

Rev. Fr. Dr. Orakwe commended the Vice-Chancellor for consistently promoting the Department of Music and projecting the University positively. He stated that the achievements currently being recorded by the Department are a testament to her visionary leadership and commitment to its development. Expressing optimism about the future, he remarked that "the sky will not be the limit" for the Department before presenting an official document to the Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the Department.

In her response, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, fnipra, described the Head of Department as someone who has made Music "very alive" in the University through his selflessness, dedication, and passion. She also commended members of the Department, emphasizing that the successes recorded by the Department are the result of teamwork and collective commitment.

The Vice-Chancellor further highlighted the importance of Music as a source of joy and fulfillment, expressing delight that the students genuinely enjoy what they do. She appreciated the Department for its outstanding contributions during Convocation Ceremonies, Inaugural Lectures, and other major University events, where it has consistently enhanced the University's image through quality performances.

Prof. Omenugha also disclosed plans to organize a more robust Music Festival in the University, describing it as an avenue for members of the University community to relax and relieve stress through music. She encouraged the Department to remain committed to excellence and assured them of the University's continued support as they strive for greater achievements.
