COOU INAUGURATES INTERIM PARENTS FORUM EXECUTIVE, APPOINTS SIR CHRIS CHIKWELU AS CHAIRMAN

As part of efforts to strengthen communication and foster a more structured relationship between the University and parents, the Management of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, on June 9, 2026, constituted an Interim Executive Committee for the COOU Parents Forum.

The development followed a mutual understanding reached between the University Management and parents during the maiden Parents Forum meeting, where both parties agreed on the need for sustained engagement through regular meetings and continuous collaboration on matters affecting students and the institution.

To facilitate effective coordination and seamless communication between the University and parents, Sir Chris Chikwelu was appointed Chairman of the Interim Executive Committee, while Dr. Iloabukeke Chinaza will serve as Vice Chairman.

Other members of the committee include Prof. Anselem Nweke, N. Dr. Ifeoma Nwafor, Engr. Obiora Manafa, Mr. Chinonso Adde, and Dr. Ilechukwu Florence.

The Interim Executive is expected to serve as a liaison between parents and the University, promote constructive engagement, and support initiatives geared towards the academic success, welfare, and overall development of students.

The University Management congratulated the newly appointed members and expressed optimism that the partnership already established through the Parents Forum would continue to yield meaningful outcomes for both the institution and its students.
