EXCELLENCY REWARDED: PROF. CHARLES SOLUDO EXTENDS EMPLOYMENT AND SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES TO 37 FIRST-CLASS GRADUATES FOR THE 2025/2026 ACADEMIC SESSION

Amid the resounding excitement that has enveloped the University community following the cash award presented to Mr. Umeh Augustus Somtochukwu who emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Student, The Visitor to the University, His Excellency, Prof. Charles Soludo, has further elevated the celebratory mood with an extraordinary gesture.

In a bold and inspiring move, the Governor pledged fully funded scholarships for all 37 First-Class graduates, covering postgraduate studies from Master’s to Doctoral (Ph.D.) levels in any public university of their choice, alongside assured employment opportunities.

In his remarks, His Excellency underscored the exceptional value of these scholars, emphasizing that they are far more than mere academic achievers—they are strategic assets to both the University and the State. He reaffirmed that investing in such brilliance is not only necessary but imperative for sustainable development and intellectual advancement.

To disregard the immense dedication, and intellectual rigor that define their academic journey would amount to a profound undervaluation of excellence. These graduates represent the very pinnacle of scholarly commitment, having distinguished themselves through years of disciplined effort and pursuit of knowledge.

The University proudly extends its warmest congratulations to these 37 outstanding scholars who, out of over 3,000 graduating students in the 2025/2026 academic session, attained the First-Class distinction. Their achievement stands as a beacon of inspiration and a testament to what is possible through diligence and determination.

This remarkable feat vividly reflects the transformative impact of the University’s guiding philosophy, The 3Vs: Values, Viability, and Visibility, which continues to shape not only institutional growth but also the character and excellence of its students. Through these graduates, the University’s reputation for academic distinction shines ever brighter on both national and global stages.

Indeed, this moment serves as both a powerful statement and undeniable testament that education remains one of the most rewarding and enduring investments any society can make.
