The rationale for the study of this course includes but is not limited to the following:
- Compatibility of programme with institutional mission. The programme of the department of philosophy in its totality is compatible with the aims and objectives as seen in Section 2 above.
- Relevance to national needs: the programme has relevance to the objectives of the National Manpower Board. The programme is also relevant to Nigerian needs of high level philosophical manpower.
- Sources and availability of staff for the programme: The department has at least ten academic staff and the distribution of their cadre is in line with the National Universities Commission guidelines.
