Perfect Debut: COOU’s Pioneer Medical Laboratory Science Class Records 100% Pass in MLSCN First Professional Exams

IGBARIAM, Anambra State — History has been written at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) as the pioneer cohort of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science achieved a flawless 100% pass rate in the First Professional Examinations conducted by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN)—doubling the Council’s 50% minimum benchmark and setting a new bar for excellence.

All 35 students who sat for the examination passed. The performance wasn’t merely successful; it was emphatic. Twenty-three (23) candidates scored 70% and above, demonstrating outstanding mastery and professional readiness, while the remaining twelve (12) posted strong results between 60% and 69%, reflecting diligence, resilience, and academic depth. With this milestone, the trailblazing class now advances to 500 Level for intensive clinical and academic training ahead of their Final Professional Examinations next year.

The achievement resonates squarely with COOU’s strategic 3Vs framework:

Values — evidenced in the integrity, discipline, and quality of teaching and learning that shaped this outcome.

Viability — confirmed by the University’s capacity to nurture competent, industry-ready professionals for the health sector.

Visibility — amplified as COOU takes a deserved place in the national spotlight for driving academic and professional excellence.

For the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, the result is a statement of intent; for COOU, it is a defining moment. The pioneers have etched their names in gold—establishing a legacy that will inspire future cohorts and strengthening COOU’s reputation as a formative hub for health sciences education in Nigeria.
