The Department of Entrepreneurship Studies, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), has presented the outcomes of its recent seminar and workshop programme for postgraduate students, undergraduates, and staff to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, during a courtesy visit to her office.
The delegation, led by Dr. Jacinta Nwangwu (Ag. HOD), congratulated the Vice-Chancellor on her appointment and expressed appreciation for her visionary leadership. Dr. Nwangwu highlighted that the seminar and workshop produced impressive results, including innovative products such as anti-dandruff formula, car wash solution, and liquid soap — all created by students under practical training sessions aimed at promoting entrepreneurial skills and self-reliance.
Prof. Omenugha personally inspected the displayed products and expressed satisfaction with their quality and creativity. She commended the department for its hands-on approach to learning and urged them to expand student participation to accommodate a larger population. Dr. Jacinta Nwangwu also appealed for additional institutional support and certification opportunities for students, noting that such initiatives would further equip them for real-world ventures and employment generation.
In her remarks, the Vice-Chancellor reminded staff of the university’s guiding philosophy, the “3Vs” — Values Viability, and Visibility — encouraging them to keep the university on the radar through impactful initiatives. She advised the department to partner with members of the State House of Assembly to integrate the programme into constituency projects, which would help sponsor more students and drive innovation. Prof. Omenugha also suggested that the products be sold at affordable prices to create social impact while fostering sustainability, commending the department for its creative efforts and promising continued support for entrepreneurial growth across the University.
