BIOGRAPHY OF ORANU EMMANUEL CHUKS

Oranu Emmanuel Chuks is a Pharmacist and possesses good knowledge in bioinformatics, drug design and discovery and great resolve to impact the lives of the people in Africa and the world at large. He currently works as a lecturer in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.

Oranu Emmanuel Chuks hails from Umudioka in Dunukofia LGA of Anambra State and was born on 18 September, 1991 at Iyienu Teaching Hospital, Ogidi Anambra State, Nigeria. He attended Our Lord’s Nur/Pry School in Lagos from 1998 to 2003 and proceeded to Kalac Loyola Secondary School and Kems College in Lagos where he acquired his Junior and Senior Secondary School Certificate respectively in 2006 and 2009.Oranu Emmanuel obtained his Bachelor of pharmacy (B.Pharm) in 2015 ; master of pharmacy (M.Pharm), Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry in 2019 and Doctor of philosophy (Ph.D) in Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry in view.

Oranu Emannuel Chuks acquired other certificate courses which includes, Leadership and Management Professional (LMP) Certificate---Institute of Management, Leadership and Productivity (IMLP) from May 2017 – July 2017, Training in Quality Control of Medicines using Dissolution and water Determination Procedures. ---United States Pharmacopeial Convention at NAFDAC South East Zonal Lab from August 8-12, 2016, Training on Molecular and Computational Methods for Emerging Pathogens Research ---Centre for Drug Discovery, Development and Production, university of Ibadan, Nigeria from March 15-18, 2016. Oranu Emmanuel speaks English and Igbo fluently.

Oranu Emannuel Chuks has great passion for research and discovery of new drugs because of the myriad of diseases which do not have cure or are developing resistance especially in Africa. This prompted him to undergo his one year compulsory Pharmacist internship program in Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Agulu Campus to expose him to research and drug discovery.

Oranu Emannuel Chuks joined a drug discovery group in the faculty as well and became proficient in the use of bioinformatic tools and chemoinformatic tools in research and drug discovery and underwent several trainings in the process.
