Admission Requirements

Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)

Candidates seeking admission into the Department through the Unified Matriculation  Examination  must in addition to passing the entrance examination of the Joint Admission  and Matriculation Board (JAMB)  at the University specified level,  possess the  Senior Secondary  School Examination  Certification (SSCE) or the General Certificate of Education (G.C.E.) at ordinary level or its equivalent as recognized by the University, with credit  passes in  five subjects to include the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any other two from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural  Science,  Geography, Book Keeping or Financial Accounting, Fine Arts, Technical Drawing, Surveying  and Building Construction. The five (5) credits must be obtained at Not more than one (1) sitting.

UTME Subjects

Candidates must obtain acceptable scores in the University matriculation examination (UME)in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other subject from physics or Chemistry and any one of Geography, Biology, Technical Drawing, Agric Science, Building Construction, surveying and accounting.

Direct Entry (DE) Candidates

Category 1:

Holders of Higher School Certificate (HSC) OR General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level (AL) in TWO relevant subjects or Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Estate Management or very closely related discipline or professional certificate who applied through the JAMB could be admitted into Year II or Part II of the programme provided they satisfy the relevant credit requirements specified in 2.1 above. Such a student may be required to take remedial courses from Year 1 or Part 1 as may be recommended by the Department.

Holders of degree in the related disciplines or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Estate Management could also be considered for Direct Entry admission such candidate may be admitted into Year II or Part II provided that they meet the relevant credit requirement as contained in section 2.1 above.

Joint University Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB)

Candidates who passed the necessary qualifying examination organized by JUPEB board of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University or any other of its equivalent as may be approved by the University Admissions Board at the end of One Year Pre-Science Programme could be admitted into Year II or Part II provided that they possess the relevant credits requirement as specified in section 2.1 above.

Transfer from other Departments/Universities 

Transfers from other Departments and Universities would be treated on their individual merits and subject to University guidelines on transfer. Where a transfer is allowed, the student will be required to be of good standing and pass all relevant courses failed in the lower levels in his former Department or University.

Admission into Courses

Admission into courses closes at the end of the third full week of each semester

A student may withdraw from a course without penalty any time up to and including the seventh full week of the Semester. Any student who withdraws after the seventh week will be deemed to have failed except in special cases approved by the Senate unless he or she been asked to withdraw from the Department.
